The Minister for Investment and Trade reported a very successful visit to Shandong, where the program for the business mission in April was discussed and agreed with Vice Governor Xia.
The China team in the Department for State Development will over the coming weeks finalise the program for distribution and provide information advising on how to register and prepare for the upcoming mission.
The business mission is now set to arrive Tuesday, 5 April 2106, in Jinan, and travelling over the week to Zibo, Qingdao and finally Linyi/Yantai. The mission will conclude on Saturday, 9 April allowing delegates a rest day on Sunday before joining the Australian Government’s ‘Australia Business Week in China’ mission from 11-14 April.
Until such time as the business mission program is finalised expressions of interest can be registered online using the ‘business-missions registration form’
Please note that companies in the following sectors will be targeted:
- mining services (METS)
- agribusiness, food and wine
- clean tech (water, waste recycling)
- Education and r&d partnerships
- Tourism; and
- an E-Commerce program that integrates across these streams is being explored.
Companies that meet the following criteria should be targeted for the business program:
- currently exporting to the China market
- currently exporting, however not yet engaged with China
- export capable and requiring international market experience in order to commence trade and export activities
- seeking partners for prospective investment.
Once registered, the Department of State Development will assess applications and advise companies on their participation.
We are developing an awareness program for companies that wish to explore the market potential, an option to be provided to those that are not ready to present their goods and services to a Chinese audience but have an eye to future engagement with the market.
BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAM
DSD has revised its timeframes on the delivery of its preparatory Business Education Program to capture more interested businesses once registered. The metropolitan session is planned for early February and regional sessions will be determined once more registrations of interest have come in. Details will be provided for distribution in the new year.

We will be encouraging our delegates to sign on for and benefit from Australia Week in China, which will immediately follow our own South Australia China mission.
