Change. Challenge. Opportunity – Food South Australia 2019 Summit program launched
2 April 2019
The 2019 Food South Australia Summit Program has been launched.
The one day conference, presented by Food South Australia, is an intensive annual update on local and global factors affecting the food and beverage industry.
Food South Australia CEO Catherine Sayer says this year’s program resonates with the state’s strong focus on growth.
“Our theme this year is ‘change, challenge, opportunity’, Ms Sayer said.
“It reflects the constant state and increasing rate of change affecting all aspects of the sector but, more importantly, the challenges to be tackled and the opportunities that come from that change,” she said.
The program includes speakers from around the world and will explore topics including consumer trends, packaging innovation, business efficiency and emerging technologies.
“We design this program as an immersive update for industry,” Ms Sayer said.
“It’s a significant challenge for many food and beverage manufacturers to be able to take time out to work on their business instead of in it for a day, and we understand that.
“We try each year to deliver a program that can be used as a team development opportunity, and always include local and global perspectives along with practical advice that can be immediately applied when attendees gets back to work. The Summit has to have maximum usefulness and value for industry, and that’s what we strive to deliver.”
“There are also opportunities to hear from our industry leaders and networking opportunities through the day that can lead to something completely new,” she said.
“In 2017, for example, the program included an update on recent sugar research. That led directly to a number of local companies rethinking the sugar used in their products. In 2018, we showcased current projects utilising food waste. These topics reflect major global consumer trends.
“Ensuring South Australian food and beverage businesses are aware of trends driving consumer purchases, and connecting them to the businesses developing the innovations available to help them meet those changing demands, is what the Food South Australia Summit is all about.”
Food South Australia has been presenting the Summit, with funding support from the Government of South Australia, since 2011.
