Three important funding programs have recently been announced of which South Australian food manufacturers and food and beverage industry service providers should be aware.
The Future Jobs Fund has been created by the Government of South Australia to help South Australia’s traditional industries diversify into new areas and help to prepare workers for the transition into new jobs in key sectors including tourism, food and wine.
Businesses and non-government organisations are invited to apply for grants or low interest loans to help develop globally competitive industries and industrial capabilities in the food and beverage sector. This could include proposals which will create jobs through investment in new or expanded food or beverage manufacturing operations, investment in new or expanded primary production activities, and investment in new or expanded tourism facilities and experiences which will attract inbound visitors.
The key objective of this program is to support businesses with projects that will create ongoing jobs.
Applications for Future Jobs Fund grants and loans close 29 September. Click here for more information.
The Food Park Business Attraction Fund is now available to businesses seeking to relocate to the new Northern Adelaide Food Park in Edinburgh Parks.
The Edinburgh Parks site offers rapid development opportunities for businesses, multiple tenure options and is well serviced, with the majority of base infrastructure already in place. The site will be home to local, national and international companies that drive growth and exports in South Australia’s value-add food sector. The primary objective of the Business Attraction Fund is to secure businesses to operate in the Food Park by funding investment-ready projects that support the State Government’s commitment to building on South Australia’s global reputation for premium food and wine, increasing international exports of differentiated and processed food and wine, transitioning to a low carbon economy and growing through innovation.
Applications will be accepted for assessment until funds are fully committed or up to 30 June 2018. Click here for more information.
The Advanced Manufacturing Growth Fund, announced by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, supports firms to invest in capital projects to establish and expand advanced manufacturing activities in Victoria and South Australia.
The program aims to transition the manufacturing sector and improve the overall efficiency and competitiveness of firms and the broader economy. These grants are intended to support projects which include buying, constructing, installing or commissioning of manufacturing equipment, and eligible activities can include design and engineering, fit-out, alterations and/or extensions to buildings directly related to the project and training directly related to the project.
Examples of advanced manufacturing include ‘additive’ (ie 3D) manufacturing, advanced materials, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, design-led innovation and ‘Industry 4.0 (automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies).
