The country of origin labelling debate hotted up over recent weeks. Food South Australia’s CEO Catherine Sayer has been involved in a wide-ranging discussion with industry about the changes and participated in a discussion on the ABC’s AM program with Sabra Lane on 15 June, also reported on the ABC’s Rural page.
Catherine emphasised the overall cost to Australian business would be millions and millions of dollars, none of which would be passed on to consumers. She added that while some businesses have changed their labels, others are reporting to Food South Australia that the process is proving to be confusing and costly.
