Trade Waste Initiative Grants
Grants for two programs under the State Government’s Trade Waste Initiative are now open for eligible businesses.
Delivered by Green Industries SA, this announcement follows the successful completion of the first round of funding for Resource Productivity Assessments in which 12 grants were awarded (see http://www.greenindustries.sa.gov.au/trade-waste-initiative-funding-awarded).
Resource Productivity Assessments
Eligible food production businesses can again apply for matched (1:1) grant funding of up to $10,000 (plus GST) to undertake a Resource Productivity Assessment.
The assessment will assist with identifying or reviewing opportunities for improving the way trade waste is managed, taking into consideration other aspects of the business such as process and materials efficiency, energy and water efficiency, and solid waste management.
Tailored to suit business needs, the assessment identifies areas for improvement to enhance productivity and performance and reduce costs through better trade waste management and resource efficiency. To be eligible for grant funding the assessment must be undertaken by one of the consultants included on the Preferred Supplier List.
Food and Beverage Implementation Grants
For some businesses, a Resource Productivity Assessment will be a prerequisite for applying for trade waste Food and Beverage Implementation Grants.
Implementation grants are open to SA Water customers in the food and beverage industry that meet trade waste volume and load-based thresholds. Eligible food and beverage businesses can apply for up to $300,000 (plus GST) in matched (1:1) grant funding to cover 50% of the costs for implementing trade waste improvement solutions identified through a Resource Productivity Assessment, or identified as being suited to the business through on-site technology trials.
Applications for both grant funding programs – Resource Productivity Assessments: round two, and Food and Beverage Implementation Grants: round one close at 5:00pm on Friday 19 May 2017.
Resource Productivity Assessment grant applications will be assessed and awarded on an ongoing basis throughout the grant round.
Implementation grant applications will be assessed in two rounds:
- all applications received by 24 March 2017 will be assessed and results known by May/June 2017
- all other applications received by the closing date of 19 May 2017 will be assessed with results to be known by July/August 2017.
