‘Business as usual’ cannot sustain South Australian manufacturing SME’s in a constantly changing business environment and increasing sophistication and agility of competitors. Business model innovation is a means for a company to enhance its value proposition and gain a competitive edge.
The Business Model Innovation (BMI) program is an applied learning program delivered by the South Australian Government in partnership with the Australian Industry Group. It is designed as a foundation course in business innovation for executives and senior managers of South Australian manufacturing SMEs.
BMI course participants are introduced to an integrated approach to innovate their business that can make a difference to their profitability and resilience in an increasingly demanding global marketplace. Delivered as a series of workshops, the BMI course will challenge participants’ current thinking and ways of doing business. Innovation is often employed by manufacturing businesses in seeking novel solutions to specific problems, efficiency improvement or deployment of new technology. Few recognise that organisational innovation or remodelling the business can be an important platform for value creation and market differentiation.
- The BMI course aims to enable participants to:
- acquire a framework for re-designing/innovating their business
- create customer-focused high-value offerings
- identify opportunities and develop new revenue streams
- establish a foundation for long-term sustainability of the their business
The workshop series will be delivered by experts who will also be available as a resource to the participants during the course in applying their learnings to developing an action plan.
Finally, within 3 months of the end of the workshop a 1 hour one-on-one mentoring session is built into the structure to review BMI action plans at the company level.
